Choosing the Right Cookware 

Today, we're focusing more on our health and eating better by adding nutritious food to our diet.

Is our food as nutritious as we think if we're unsure whether the utensils we use to cook it are safe? 

So which utensils do you use for cooking food?

Some cheap non-stick cookware might have a harmful substance called Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA), which can build up in your body over time and lead to health problems like thyroid, kidney disorders, liver failure,  and breast cancer.

Cheap Non-Stick Cookware 

Non-stick cookware is dangerous as it is coated with Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or Teflon. These Teflon-coated cookware release harmful fumes when heated, which can lead to cancer and other serious health hazards.

Premium Non-Stick Cookware 

Aluminium cookware is dangerous because it releases small amounts of aluminium into food when you cook with it. Too much aluminium in your body might cause health problems like bone issues, kidney damage, Heart Complications, Brain damage and paralysis.

Nickel-Coated Stainless-Steel cookware is also dangerous. When this nickel is mixed with your food It causes skin rashes, itching, or more severe allergic reactions.

This cookware can be risky because the aluminium base leaches into food. Excessive aluminium intake has been linked to health issues like neurological problems and bone disorders.

Aluminium-based Ceramic Cookware 

Brass contains a combination of copper and zinc, and when it encounters acidic foods like dry mango powder, tomato or lemon, it can leach harmful compounds into the food. This can lead to health issues such as copper poisoning. It's safer to use tin-coated (Kalai) brass cookware. 

Brass Cook Ware 

Bell metal (Kaansa) cookware contains a high percentage (80%) of copper, which can leach into food when exposed to heat, leading to health risks such as copper poisoning. It's safer to use tin-coated (Kalai) cookware.

Bell Metal Cookware (Kansa) 

Ceramic cookware is safe for cooking. It's made from natural materials like clay and sand and coated with a glaze that doesn't contain harmful chemicals. It's non-reactive and distributes heat evenly.  

Premium Ceramic Cookware 

Stainless Steel cookware is safe because it doesn't react with acidic or alkaline foods. It doesn't leach harmful chemicals into your food, even when cooking at high temperatures. It's durable, light weight and easy to clean.

Stainless Steel Cookware 

Iron cookware is safe for cooking as it doesn't release harmful chemicals when heated. Iron cookware is lighter and heats up faster. Iron cookware leaches the iron content into your food, which is beneficial for your health. 

Iron Cookware 

Cast iron cookware is generally safe for cooking. It's made from iron and doesn't contain any harmful chemicals. Cooking with cast iron can also increase the iron content of your food, which is beneficial for your health. 

Cast Iron Cookware 

Clay cookware is one of the healthiest options because it's made from natural materials without harmful chemicals. When used for cooking, it doesn't leach toxins into your food, preserving its nutritional value and taste. Clay pots are porous, allowing for gentle and even heat distribution, which helps retain nutrients and flavours in the food.
