सक्युलेंट्स बहुत ही आसानी से उगने वाले रेगिस्तनी पौधे हैं

 इन्हें बहुत ही कम पानी, खाद और देखभाल  की ज़रुरत होती है। अन्य पौधों की तरह इन्हें रोज़ रोज़ पानी देने की आवश्यकता भी नहीं  होती। सक्युलेंट्स की यही खासियत इन्हें घरों, दफ्तरों और बग़ीचों कि पहली पसंद बनाती है ।

ये जानते हुए भी कि इन पौधों को नाम मात्र पानी की ज़रुरत होती है, हम कई बार अनजाने में कभी ज़यादा तो कभी कम पानी इन्हें दे देते हैं। असल में यही वजह के खराब होने की।

ज़्यादा पानी की जड़ों में जम हो जाता है, जिससे उसकी जड़ें सड़ने लगती और पत्तियां मुरझा कर गिरने लगती हैं। 

आइये जानते हैं इनकी सही देखभाल के कुछ आसान तरीके-

1. अपने सक्युलेंट्स को कब कब पानी दें

सक्युलेंट्स रेगिस्तानी पौधे होने के बावजूद बहुत ही नाज़ुक होते हैं।  यदि पानी के साथ साथ मिट्टी को ठीक से तैयार नहीं किया गया तो दस -बारह दिन में ही ये पौधे दम तोड़ देते हैं। लेकिन एक बार सिर्फ कुछ सावधानियां बरत कर इन्हें लम्बे समय के लिए घर , दफ्तर और बगीचों में लगाया जा सकता है।

2. सही मौसम का इंतज़ार

सक्युलेंट्स लगाने का सही मौसम फरवरी से लेकर मई – ज़ून तक है। इस समय हवा में नमी की कमी के कारण ये बहुत अच्छे से पनप पाते हैं।

सर्दियों में ये पौधे निष्क्रिय हो जाते हैं इसलिए सर्दी के मौसम में इनके गमले बदलना , इन्हे खाद अथवा कीटनाशक नहीं दिया जाना चाहिए।

3. ज़्यादा पानी सक्युलेंट्स का सबसे बड़ा दुश्मन

सर्दियों में सक्युलेंट्स को पानी सप्ताह में केवल एक बार दिया जाना चाहिये। मौसम यदि ज़्यादा ठंडा हो तो पानी महीने मे एक बार भी दिया जा सकता है। गर्मियों के मुकाबले पानी केवल आधी मात्रा में देना ही पर्याप्त है।

पानी का, स्प्रे की मदद से ही छिड़काव करें,या फिर किसी प्लेट में पानी भर कर गमले को प्लेट में रख दे। पानी खुद ही रिस कर गमले में चला जाएगा। तीसरा तरीका है, बिना पौधे या फिर मिट्‍टी को छेड़ें एक किनारे से  पानी धीरे धीरे गमले में डालें जब तक पानी नीचे से बहने न लगे।

4. कैसे सक्युलेंट्स लें?

सक्युलेंट्स पौधे की पत्ती जितनी छोटी होती है उतना ही उन्हें ज़्यादा पानी देने की ज़रुरत पड़ती है। बड़ी पत्तियों में पानी जमा करने की क्षमता नहीं होती है यही वजह है कि उन  से पानी जल्दी और आसानी से उड़ जाता है।  इसलिए अगर आपके पास समय की कमी है तो बड़ी पत्तियों वाला पौधा ही लीजिये। जैसे एलो वेरा , स्नेक प्लांट या क्राउन ऑफ़ थोर्न।

5.  मिट्टी और गमलों के प्रकार

सक्युलेंट्स के लिएमिक्स मिट्टी की ज़रुरत होती है, जो न तो पानी को जमा होने दे और न ही एकदम बह जाने दे।  इसकी  मिटटी में  बालू, चिकनी मिट्टी और प्रलाइट, तीनों को 2 :2 :1 मात्रा में मिलाएं। गमले में सबसे पहले कुछ छोटे पत्थर डालें उसके बाद तैयार की हुई मिट्टी पुरे गमले में बिछा दें।  नमी को बनाये रखने के लिए उसमे कुछ प्लास्टिक या पत्थर के टुकड़े भी डाले जा सकते हैं। नर्सरी  में यह मिट्टी  पोटिंग मिक्स (potting  mix) के नाम से आसानी से मिल जाती है। 

गमले अगर बड़े आकार के हों, तो भी नमी का संतुलन बना रहता है। छोटे गमलों के मुकाबले बड़े गमलों से पानी धीरे धीरे सूखता है। यदि समय के साथ आपके गमले से पानी पूरी तरह नहीं निकल पा रहा तो यही समय है गमले को बदल ने का।

6.  नमी

सक्युलेंट्स के बारे में सोचते ही ये मान लिया जाता है की ना तो उन्हें पानी की ज़रुरत है और न ही नमी की।  लेकिन सच तो ये है कि बिना नमी और पानी के सक्युलेंट्स भी दम तोड़ देते हैं। केवल कुछ ही सक्युलेंट्स बिना पानी और गर्म हवाओं में टिक पाते हैं।

सक्युलेंट्स की अच्छी सेहत के लिए उन्हें या तो दूसरे पौधों के बीच रखें या किसी ऐसी जगह जहाँ उन्हें लू के गर्म थपेड़ों से बचाया जा सके।

7.  सूरज की रोशनी या धूप

कुछ सक्युलेंट्स सूरज की सीधी धूप झेल लेते हैं लेकिन अधिकतर को छाँव ही पसंद होती है। जितना यह पौधा धूप में रहेगा उतना ही इसकी मिट्टी के सूखने की सम्भावना बढ़ती जाएगी।  इसलिए जितना हो सके सक्युलेंट्स को सीधी धूप से बचाना चाहिए।

8. कैसे जानें अपने सक्युलेंट्स की पानी की ज़रुरत

वैसे तो ऐसा मौका शायद की आये जब सक्युलेंट्स को पानी की कमी का सामना करना पड़े। अक्सर ज़्यादा पानी ही सक्युलेंट्स को ख़राब करता है। फिर भी ऐसे कुछ तरीके हैं जिनसे इन पौधों की सेहत का जायज़ा लिया जा सकता है। जब भी सक्युलेंट्स की पत्तियां पीली हो कर गिरने लगे या पत्तियां गलने लगे तो यह इस बात की पहचान है की पौधे में पानी मात्रा ज़रुरत से ज़्यादा है।सक्युलेंट्स की मिट्‍टी का बिलकुल सूख जाना और पत्तों का सूख कर  मुरझा जाना उसे कम पानी मिलने की ही पहचान है।

9. घर पर आसानी से लगाए जाने वाले कुछ सक्युलेंट्स
